HOW LIP AUGMENTATION IS PERFORMED
INDICATIONS
Lip augmentation surgery achieves a long-term effect without scars. Incisions are made on the inside of the lip and heal well. Scars are not visible because we use a method of shifting the mucous lining of the lip. The degree to which your lips can be augmented is thus limited by the lining that is available to shift.
LIP REDUCTION
When it comes to reducing lips, surgery is the only possible choice. Lip shape and size are determined not only by genetics, but also by long-term habitual facial expressions and gradual sagging of the skin and soft structures of the face in connection with ageing.
COURSE OF THE OPERATION
Lip reduction or enlargement is usually performed under local anaesthesia. First, the doctor measures the extent of the shift of the mucous lining of the lips and marks the surgical incision. In a lip reduction, the indicated section of the lining is removed. During a lip enlargement, a serrated incision is made, the mucous lining of the lips is separated and then shifted.
POSTOPERATIVE CARE
After lip surgery, you are advised to follow a resting regimen at home for several days. For the first 2–3 days you can apply cold compresses. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after meals and brush your teeth very gently. Swelling usually persists for 7–10 days after surgery.
